Vimshopaka Bala — Divisional Dignity Score

16-Varga Composite

Each of the 16 major divisional charts contributes a weighted score (D1 = 3.5 pts, D9 = 1.5 pts, D60 = 4 pts, etc.). The sum of all 16 contributions produces the Vimshopaka score out of 20.

Uttama / Madhya / Adhama

A Vimshopaka score ≥ 15 is Uttama (excellent) — the planet delivers results consistently across life domains. 10–14 is Madhya (moderate). Below 10 is Adhama — the planet's D1 promise is frequently overridden by varga weakness.

Cross-Varga Verification

A planet strong in D1 but weak in D9 (Navamsha) often fails to deliver marriage or dharma results promised natally. Vimshopaka exposes this gap — it is the single best check on whether a D1 promise will actualise.

Parivartana Override

When a Parivartana (sign exchange) exists between two planets in D1, the D1 contribution to Vimshopaka is overridden to reflect the exchanged dignity — only D1, never other vargas.

What is the maximum possible Vimshopaka score?

The maximum theoretical score is 20 — achieved when a planet occupies exaltation or Moolatrikona in all 16 divisional charts simultaneously. This is essentially impossible in practice. Real charts typically show 8–16 for strong planets, with 18+ being extraordinarily rare and indicating the most powerful possible planetary placement.

Which divisional charts matter most for Vimshopaka?

D60 (Shashtyamsha) carries the highest weight at 4 points and D1 at 3.5 — together these two vargas contribute 37.5% of the total. D9 (Navamsha) at 1.5 is the most psychologically important despite its moderate weight. A planet can score well overall even with moderate D9 if D1, D60, and others are strong.

Should I look at Shadbala or Vimshopaka?

Both. Shadbala measures the power of a planet from positional, directional, temporal, and aspectual sources — how strong it is to act. Vimshopaka measures the dignity of a planet across all life domains — how reliably it delivers. A planet can be Shadbala-strong (high energy) but Vimshopaka-weak (inconsistent delivery), or vice versa. Together they give the complete picture.
