Raja Yoga is the most versatile and commonly discussed category of auspicious combinations in Vedic astrology. Unlike Mahapurusha Yogas which require a single planet to occupy a specific position, Raja Yoga is a RELATIONSHIP between kendra lords (house rulers of 1, 4, 7, 10) and trikona lords (rulers of 1, 5, 9). When these two groups come into contact, they create a synergy between material power (kendra) and dharmic merit (trikona). The 1st house lord is simultaneously a kendra and trikona lord — making it the most powerful trigger of Raja Yoga.
How it forms
A kendra lord (1/4/7/10) and a trikona lord (1/5/9) must connect through: (1) conjunction in the same sign, (2) mutual aspect (7th-house aspect or special Mars/Jupiter/Saturn aspects), or (3) Parivartana (sign exchange). Planets owning both a kendra and trikona (e.g., Mars for Karka Lagna owning 5th and 10th) trigger Raja Yoga by their very placement.

Does every chart have Raja Yoga?
