All planetary positions are computed using Swiss Ephemeris (SE) — the same precision library used by professional astronomical software. Planetary longitude accuracy is within arc-seconds, not arc-minutes.

BPHS Classical Rules

Every yoga detection, every dignity assignment, every functional benefic/malefic classification traces to a specific sutra in the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS). No interpretation is invented or interpolated.

Deterministic Engine

AstroShri's core is a deterministic rule engine — identical birth data always produces identical output. Every calculation is traceable, reproducible, and auditable. No probabilistic AI guesswork is involved in any core output.

Multi-System Support

The engine runs Parashari, Jaimini, KP, and Tajika systems simultaneously — allowing cross-system validation. When multiple systems agree on a timing or placement, confidence in the output is highest.

Does AstroShri use AI for chart interpretation?

The core calculation engine is entirely rule-based and deterministic — no AI. Every yoga, every dignity score, every Avastha is computed from classical rules directly. AstroShri optionally uses a small language model (running locally, never sending your data to cloud AI) to synthesise the rule outputs into readable narrative — but the underlying facts are always classically computed, not AI-generated.

Which ayanamsha should I use?

Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) is the default and the most widely used ayanamsha in contemporary Vedic practice — it is the official ayanamsha of the Indian government's calendar reform. KP practitioners should use the KP ayanamsha. If you are comparing charts with a specific software or astrologer, match their ayanamsha for consistency. AstroShri lets you switch ayanamsha at any point and instantly recomputes all outputs.

How does AstroShri handle birth time accuracy?

Planetary longitude positions (except the Moon) are relatively insensitive to birth time — a 15-minute error has negligible impact on most grahas. The Lagna (ascendant) and house cusps are birth-time sensitive — a 4-minute error can shift the Lagna by roughly 1 degree. AstroShri displays a birth time confidence indicator and, for uncertain birth times, can perform a rectification analysis using known life events.
